A return to the winning scene couldn’t have come sooner for James Cole

Last year at Rockingham, James Cole became the toast of Corby as he took his maiden Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship pole position.

Sunday got even better as a commanding drive in the first race meant he took his only victory to date.

As Team Shredded Wheat Racing with Gallagher look to get further up the teams standings, a return to a happy hunting ground for Cole couldn’t have come at a better time for the team.

James last scored points in the first race at Croft and it’s to be expected that the drought will end this weekend. His pace in qualifying at Snetterton showed glimpses of promise. However, the races ended up in disappointment.

The Motorbase squad also have an affinity with the Northamptonshire circuit as multiple podiums and victories have been scored at the circuit along with their maiden pole position back in 2015.

Cole is undoubtedly excited that the championship returns to the scene of his only victory, also there is belief that it can be replicated,

“I’m really looking forward to getting back to the circuit where I won my first ever touring car race last year, and also managed to get my 1st pole there too. It’s a circuit that I especially love and have really good memories there hopefully we can continue where we left off last year.

“We have a bit of making up to do after Snetterton. We had pretty good pace in the car but things didn’t go our way with the results.

“We’re moving in the right direction though and getting ever closer to that elusive first win this year. The team are working well. I’m excited to see what this weekend can bring.”
