The Simpson Racing squad who run Matt Simpson in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship have split with Eurotech Racing with immediate effect after last weekend’s Rockingham rounds.

Simpson Racing is expected to run as an independent entry for the remainder of the 2018 season.

Matt Simpson joined Eurotech at the start of 2018 following a year at Team Dynamics, where he has subsequently made breakthroughs into the top ten and even scored the first victory of his BTCC career in the first race at Oulton Park.

Matt had scored his second podium finish of the year with third in the final race of the day at Rockingham. According to Eurotech Team Principal Jeff Smith, it was not long after this when the decision to ultimately split was made.

Speaking to btcc.net, Jeff explained Eurotech’s feelings towards the decision,

“Having helped Matt to his best ever season in BTCC we were completely shocked to be told that he no longer wanted to run with us, especially immediately after the podium in race three.

“Whilst we are disappointed not to be running Matt for the rest of the 2018 season we wish him the best of luck in the remaining three rounds and beyond.”
