Frijns Quickest in Opening DTM Practice at Brands Hatch

The first session of the DTM Series‘ return to British shores at Brands Hatch ended with Robin Frijns quickest.

Audi duo of Frijns and Mike Rockenfeller set the first times of the session.

Dani Juncadella was the first to displace Frijns at the top before the Spaniard was surpassed Paul di Resta.

Augusto Farfus but BMW on top but lost out to Juncadella, but the Brazilian but himself back on top at his next opportunity.

The BMW was not letting up and kept improving on his time at top.

As the drivers continued to improve their times, nobody was able to better that set by Farfus.

Edoardo Mortara finally displaced Farfus for the top spot with Nico Müller and Rockenfeller slotting in behind.

Frijns found some pace to become the first sub 1m20 lap, with Juncadella quickly displacing him.

After the sessions the drivers had five minutes to complete practice starts on the starting grid with Practice 2 getting underway immediately afterwards.

Frijns, used his final lap to set the fastest lap of the session to secure his position at the top.

Juncadella ended second, with Loïc Duval third.

Rockenfeller was fourth with Müller completing the top five.

The Mercedes was sixth from reigning champion René Rast.

Long time pacesetter Farfus ended in seventh ahead of team-mates Marco Wittmann and Timo Glock.

Championship leader Gary Paffett was down in fifteenth place.

Qualifying for Race 1 gets underway at 11.20 local time with the race itself at 13.30.
