The final DTM Series practice at Brands Hatch was headed by Audi‘s Loïc Duval.

Paul di Resta was second, just 0.090 seconds slower than the Frenchman.

Rounding off the top three was BMW‘s Timo Glock.

René Rast got the session underway, leading the field out of the pits to kick off the twenty minute session.

In the opening minutes Glock struggled on cold tyres and suffered a lock up in his yellow BMW.

As the first man on track, Rast set the first time of the session with everyone slotting in behind him, as the reigning champion improved on his benchmark time.

However it was not all plain-sailing for the Audi driver as he ran wide.

Fellow Audi driver, Nico Müller was the one to displace Rast at the top by just thirteen thousandths of a second.

Mercedes‘ di Resta seized the advantage from Müller with just over 11 minutes to go in the session.

With about eight and a half minutes remaining in the session the field returned to the pits to allow for set-up and tyre changes.

Augusto Farfus took advantage of the empty track to try and improve on his time, which put him up into eighth.

With three minutes to go all drivers were back on track as they all looked to improve of their times.

A strong lap put Timo Glock into second as Loïc Duval jumped di Resta to go fastest for Audi.

Despite ending yesterday’s race in the barrier Duval was quickest for Audi.

The Mercedes of di Resta was second fastest as Glock in third meant all three manufacturers were represented in the top three.

Müller was fourth with Rast completing the top five.

Jamie Green was sixth fastest ahead of yesterday’s race winner Dani Juncadella.

Edoardo Mortara was eighth with Audi duo Mike Rockenfeller and Robin Frijns completing the top ten.

Championship leader Gary Paffett could only manage sixteenth fastest.

The next time the DTM cars will take to the track will be at 11.20 local time for qualifying ahead of Race 2 at 13.30 which runs for 55 minutes plus one lap.
