Julian Hanses will make a welcome return to the FIA European Formula 3 Championship this weekend at the Red Bull Ring after joining Carlin Motorsport, who will return to running six cars for the first time since the fourth round of the season at Zandvoort.

The German racer has sat out the rounds at Silverstone, Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli and the Nurburgring after splitting with the ma-con team, and in his five rounds with the German team, he scored one points finish, which was a seventh place in the second race of the Pau weekend back in May.

Hanses is pleased to be returning to the series and feels it gives drivers a good platform to show what they are capable of.  He is also please to return on a track he has previously raced on during his time in Formula 4, so he is ready to hit the ground running with Carlin this weekend.

“I’m pleased to be back in the championship with Carlin and looking forward to getting back in the car after a little while away,” said Hanses, who will line-up alongside Sacha Fenestraz, Jehan Daruvala, Ferdinand Habsburg, Nikita Troitskiy and Ameya Vaidyanathan for the remainder of the season at Carlin.

“I think the championship and the car is a great platform for drivers and a competitive field which is great for a driver.  I’m excited to be joining Carlin because they have a great history in the sport.

“Looking ahead to the weekend, I know that the Red Bull Ring is in no way easy. I have driven the track already when I raced in Formula 4 and I am highly motivated to attack again.”
