FIA Formula 2 series driver Louis Delétraz will test for the Haas F1 Team in the scheduled post-season test at the Yas Marina Circuit late this month.

The test, conducted by Pirelli Motorsport on 27-28 November, will mark Delétraz’s first outing in a Formula 1 car after two full seasons in the championship’s main feeder series.

The 21-year-old Swiss will accompany Haas at the Brazilian and Abu Dhabi Grands Prix – the latter concurrent with his duties for the Charouz Racing System team in the final round of the Formula 2 season – in order to acquaint himself with the team.

Financial support comes by way of the Abu Dhabi-based ADSS Group; the company’s logo will be present on the car for the Abu Dhabi weekend and following test.

“I’m naturally very excited to make my Formula One debut testing in Abu Dhabi,” said Delétraz, whose father Jean-Denis participated in three Grands Prix between 1994 and 1995.

“I’m grateful to both [team founder] Gene Haas and [team principal] Guenther Steiner for giving me the opportunity to test with Haas F1 Team. I’m equally appreciative of ADSS Group’s support in what is another key step in my overall goal of becoming a Formula One driver.

“It’s the perfect way to end my 2018 season, one in which I’ve continued to develop and showcase my credentials.”

Déletraz has shown marked improvements in 2018, standing eleventh in the championship with one round left. Standout results include podiums in the Monaco and French sprint races, with a further four points finishes bolstering his points tally.

“I’m looking forward to spending time with Haas F1 Team in Brazil and Abu Dhabi prior to driving the VF-18. I’m sure it will be a memorable experience as I work with the team running Pirelli’s 2019 tyre line-up.”

Team principal Guenther Steiner said that the test will be a “special occasion” for Delétraz after a “solid” year.

“This is a good opportunity for Louis to progress his racing career and it’s always a special occasion earning your debut in a Formula One car,” Steiner said.

“He has enjoyed a solid 2018 season competing in the FIA Formula 2 Championship, amidst possibly one of the strongest fields in recent years. We look forward to welcoming Louis into the team along with ADSS Group at their home Grand Prix.

“I’m sure he will acquit himself with the same drive and determination that has brought him success throughout his career to-date.”
