Simona De Silvestro has become a global ambassador for Formula E title sponsor ABB ahead of the 2018-19 season.

The Swiss driver will combine the position with her role as a test driver for Venturi Formula E, which will see her taking part in the post Ad Diriyah ePrix test this weekend.

Her new job for electrification product producer ABB involves her championing the company’s contribution to e-mobility and diversity.

Speaking about the appointment De Silvestro said she was proud to have been asked to take it on.

She said, “I’m delighted to be part of such an exciting partnership with ABB and Formula E.

“Particularly as the Championship is growing in strength every year. Its values relating to sustainability and mobility, among many others, are such important topics for all of us and I’m proud to be able to contribute to their shared mission.”

She joins fellow Swiss driver Sebastien Buemi in being an ambassador for ABB, and Head of ABB’s Global Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Frank Muehlon said that they were delighted to have her join the team.

“We are delighted to welcome Simona De Silvestro as a new ABB ambassador of Formula E.

“As a seasoned racing driver in several motorsports, she is an ideal person to champion the power and potential of e-mobility.

He continued, “In season 5, with her support, ABB will continue to push the boundaries of e-mobility as part of our commitment to run the world without consuming the earth.”
