Mercedes-AMG has announced that it will provide support to AKKA ASP and newly-established squad Haupt Racing Team at the upcoming Total 24 Hours of Spa.
AKKA ASP is one of the most experienced and successful teams in GT3 racing and has been part of the Mercedes brand since 2015. The squad will consist of Timur Boguslavskiy, Felipe Fraga, and Raffaele Marciello for the twenty-four-hour event.
New team HRT, will be joining the GT World Challenge Europe this season after being established by Hubert Haupt. The team will also be running a very strong driver line-up of Vincent Abril, Maro Engel and Luca Stolz in the full Endurance Cup.
Mercedes-AMG will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of its customer racing programme this year, and will be targeting a first overall victory at the 24 Hours since 2013 which had Bernd Schneider, Maximilian Buhk and Maximilian Götz at the wheel.
A statement from Mercedes-AMG has said that “at least two” cars would receive its assistance at Spa, which means their could also be space for further factory-supported efforts at the Belgian endurance classic. The Total 24 Hours of Spa will run a unique autumn edition this year on 22-25 October and it also represents the race’s 20th running since GT rules were adopted in 2001.
