A calendar update for Season 7 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship sees Rome and Valencia host a race on Sunday, in addition to their usual Saturday: Rome will host a race on 11 April 2021 and Valencia on 25 April 2021.

This update of the calendar will “depend on travel restrictions, as well as local government protocols and are subject to approval of the FIA World Motor Sport Council.” according to an official ABB FIA Formula E statement.

Rome has hosted a race in 2018 and 2019, with current Panasonic Jaguar Racing’s Sam Bird and Mitch Evans as the respective race winners. As the COVID-19 pandemic struck around the world last year, Rome was unable to host the race. For Season 7 of the Championship, the addition of the Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana into the track layout will make the urban track different from previous editions.

Valencia’s Circuit Ricardo Tormo was the setting for the last three years’ pre-season tests, succeeding Donnington Park in 2017 after the teams expressed a desire to move their testing to warmer climates. This is the first time Valencia will host an actual race, as well as the first time the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship will race on a permanent race track.
