After puncture-derived heartbreak at the Brands Hatch opener Pirtek Racing's Andrew Jordan is hoping to rebound as his home race, when the British Touring Car Championship visits Donington Park on April 16-17.
“I think it will be one of our stronger circuits. We ran well there last year and the new engine is going really well so I think Donington will be good for us,” said the Staffordshire based driver. “It's good to have the Donington weekend at the start of the season and Donington is very local for the team so it will be good to be racing there. It is a challenging track and it's pretty exciting down the Craner Curves on the early laps when you are just hanging on to the car!”
Among the front runners at Brands Hatch before a pair of punctures limited the 21-year-old to just a sixth place finish, the team are well aware of the potential of the Swindon Engine propelled Vectra.
Jordan’s new teammate Jeff Smith enjoyed better fortune at Brands Hatch, taking a points finish from his first race in the competitive series, and will be aiming to cement his place as a challenger for the top-10 on the sweeping corners of the East Midlands track.
As ever, the three races on Sunday are to be shown live on ITV4, and qualifying the day before will be shown live on ww.itv.com.
The Checkered Flag will also have reports and updates from the weekend.
