Harsher Restrictions For BTCC Turbos At Thruxton

1 Mins read

As widely expected following their dominance of last weekend's race at Donington Park British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) organiser TOCA have moved to slow the turbocharged NGTC car ahead of the May Bank Holiday weekend races at Thruxton.

New boost pressure limits that will brought into force at the Hampshire track will be 0.1 bar lower than the maximum pressure recorded by each car at Donington Park.

The turbocharged NGTC-spec powered drivers swept the podium in all three races at Donington Park, with Matt Neal setting a fastest race lap time of 1:10.902 seconds around the 1.98 mile track. The fastest lap in a normally aspirated car was set by Paul O'Neill in race two – 1:11.655.

Neal's pole time in Saturday's qualifying session was over a second faster that Jason Plato in the non-turbo Chevrolet Cruze, who lined up eighth – the best non NGTC runner.
