Lying second in the Independents' championship Pirtek Racing expect nothing less than more points from this weekend's three races at Oulton Park.
The event – the British Touring Car Championship's annual trip to the Cheshire track – brings drivers Andrew Jordan and Jeff Smith to once of the best drivers' tracks in the UK. The parkland venue dives up and down through several fast corners, offering a three dimensional challenge to the wheelmen.
“Oulton is a great circuit,” said Jordan. “It has some high speed corners and you've really got to hang on to the car. But I think brakes on the turbo cars will be the big issue, as you are braking really hard three times on every lap. We're the strongest Independent team taking it to the big teams and we're racing to make sure we get points all the time. I think we can really challenge for the Independents' title.”
In his second year with Pirtek Racing Jordan has been a frontrunner all season, winning a race at Donington Park earlier in the year among five podiums in the last six races. This consistent speed has been central to putting him fourth in the overall drivers' standings ahead of this weekend and third in the Independents' standings.
Part of Pirtek Racing's success this season has been Jeff Smith. Though only nine races into his BTCC debut season, he has been able to consistently pick up points to add to both his personal tally and the team's score.
Qualifying for the weekend is at 3:15pm on Saturday June 4, with the three races on Sunday at 12:15, 2:30 and 5:10pm.
