2012 British Touring Car Independents’ champion Andrew Jordan will swap his normal NGTC Honda for a Compass360 Racing Honda Civic when he travels to Daytona International Speedway to race in the Continental Tire Series race supporting the Rolex 24 at Daytona.
Jordan’s #77 will adorn the car he will share with another driver running in the ST class of the two-and-a-half hour race on the 3.56mile ‘roval’ track at the famous Floridian Superspeedway.
“I want to seize any opportunity like this that comes along,” said Jordan. “It will be a fantastic chance to race on the high-banks of the famed Daytona Speedway and I know I will learn a lot from racing in a different country. Racing at Daytona has always been one of my ambitions and I hope that this drive could lead to the chance to tackle the 24-hour race one day.”
The Toronto based team will be running two cars – including Jordan’s charge – to help raise money for Team Seattle, with money raised supporting the Cardiac Care Unit at Seattle Childrens’ Hospital. The cause is also supported by Patrick Dempsey, many of the actor’s racing exploits benefitting the charity.
“I’m thrilled to have been invited to race for the team and I’m determined to repay their faith in me with a good result,” said Jordan. “However, helping them to raise more money for the charity is the first objective. For me, it is also a great chance to broaden my experience, which can only be good for our 2013 BTCC campaign with Pirtek Racing.”
