Hi Everyone,
I’m just taking a quick break to write you this blog as I currently sit in the van at Swindon Engines – The hard work never stops but it’s all worth it!
Donington Park was another incredible weekend for the Mercedes-Benz Ciceley Racing team from start to finish.
We arrived at Donington Park hoping to be quick after our recent testing form and duly delivered at one of my favourite circuits on the BTCC calendar!
The action commenced under glorious blue skies and our performance matched the weather conditions. I brought the Toyota Avensis home in sixth and eighth place respectively during Free Practice on the 1.96-mile circuit, boding well for the afternoon’s qualifying session.
Our stance improved during qualifying, as I snatched sixth position to line up alongside Jason Plato – one of the greatest BTCC drivers in his own right!
The racing on the Sunday went just as well for us, as the Toyota Avensis proved to be ultra-competitive against the likes of the works Hondas and MGs. A trio of top five finishes capped off a fantastic weekend for me.
So after six rounds of racing in the 2013 BTCC, I currently lie in sixth position in the championship standings; A magnificent feat for a new operation racing at the premier level of British motorsport.
As I look on to Thruxton, I’ve never felt happier! We incurred a lot of bad luck during our first campaign in the series, but it’s great to now have the package to prove all the critics wrong, and show that I can try to mix it with the big boys at the front of the grid in only my fourth season of racing cars.
I’m expecting it to be very close at Thruxton but, as always, we’ll give it a good go and try to get back onto that podium very soon!
Don’t forget that you can keep up with all of the latest day-to-day goings on via @adammorgan33 or @ciceleyracing.
See you all soon!
