British GT champion Michael Caine will return for a one-off BTCC outing this weekend at Croft, driving the newly-completed third NGTC Motorbase Ford Focus.

The reigning British GT champion previously raced with the Kent squad towards the end of 2011 in BTCC, and will now race in the third machine which the team intended to run for the 43-year-old in the latter half of the current season.

That deal looked to have fallen through due to Caine’s current GT commitments – Caine becoming the 2013 season’s most recent winner at Snetterton last weekend – but the experienced sportscar ace will now make a one-off appearance in the striking Autoglym-sponsored Addison Lee Motorbase machine alongside regular drivers Mat Jackson and Aron Smith at Croft  circuit for round five this weekend.

An enthusiastic Caine said of his BTCC return outing: “I absolutely loved it the last time out – so if this weekend can be as good as that, then brilliant. I’d like to say a massive thanks to Autoglym and everybody else that has been involved and helped to make this happen.

“I’m really looking forward to being able to support the team once again, and hopefully we get the results that they deserve this weekend.”

Motorbase Performance Team Principal David Bartrum commented: “It’s great to get the opportunity to race the third Motorbase NGTC and we’re really looking forward to seeing what Michael can do in the Focus this weekend; especially coming off the back of such a great weekend with our first GT race win.”
