Adam Morgan Blog: BTCC Podiums, NASCAR And Consistency

2 Mins read

Hi everyone!

Sorry that I’ve been a while with my latest update, it’s been chaotic!

After the joys of sealing my first podium at Oulton Park, we moved onto a very difficult weekend at Croft. Although I was able to maintain our position within the championship, weather conditions, as always at Croft, played a key factor in the weekend’s proceedings.

The Ciceley Racing boys did a brilliant job to repair my Toyota Avensis after an off in Free Practice, leading to a top-ten qualifying birth, which was a great achievement.

Steady results in the first two races of the day ensured that I started in pole position for the final race of the day, but luck wasn’t on our side, and the heavens opened prior to the race.

We were also faced with the dilemma of having to change our brake pads after the second race, so as you can imagine, bedding them in on a now very wet Croft Circuit was going to be difficult.

I immediately came under pressure from the BMW’s off the start but managed to hold my own in second position for the first lap, but then Clervaux got the better of me and I retired from the race.

The summer break was much needed after a very busy start to our first BTCC season. I headed over to Florida for a bit of time out and even got to go and see some NASCAR which was pretty awesome as well, those boys really know how to race!

We were in very good spirits heading to Snetterton as the season got back underway. I qualified very well there back in 2012, so knew that another good showing was a realistic aim.

I was really happy to take away seventh position despite an issue with the power steering on the car. We managed to hold our own in the first race and take a seventh, followed by a fifth in the second.

The final race of the day saw me line up in fourth, it was a tremendous race due a brilliant battle with Aron Smith for third, unfortunately I couldn’t quite find a way past him and he just pipped me to that podium at the chequered flag.

Overall, I’m very happy with the way that things are going. We’ve managed to get our consistent form back and I don’t think that it would be unrealistic for us to challenge for a top six finish in the championship standings.

Bring on Knockhill!

Adam
