The Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship’s annual visit to Oulton Park will take place on the longer International layout next season rather than the Island circuit used in recent seasons.
Rounds 10, 11 and 12 of the 2014 BTCC season will see drivers return to the full 2.69-mile International layout of the picturesque Cheshire venue, after over a decade of using the shorter 2.226 Island circuit.
The track sees cars carry on past the tight Island hairpin exiting Cascades and instead turn left into the sweeping high-speed Island Bend, before heading around the banked Shell Oils hairpin right-hander that follows.
Drivers will then tip through the Britten’s chicane, before returning onto the normal circuit on the approach to Hill Top and heading into the Knickerbrook chicane.
Not used since 1996 when Jo Winklehock and Rickard Rydell claimed victories around the full layout, the International circuit is one of three used by the BTCC over the years in its current disguise and will host the fourth round of the 2014 season on June 7-8, having attracting 40,000 spectators this year.
