25 BTCC Support Stars To Watch For 2014: 9 to 1

7 Mins read

1. Alex Morgan

After a simply sensational debut campaign in 2013, in which the 26 year old followed up a surprise race win on the opening weekend at Brands Hatch with a run to second in the final championship standings, all eyes are on Morgan ahead of the upcoming Renault UK Clio Cup season.

The stand-out debutant of 2013, former single-seater racer Morgan showed no signs of rustiness after four years away from the sport, instantly gelling with the tin-top Clio and front-running outfit Team Pyro.

While he didn’t return to the top step of the podium over the remainder of the season, Morgan went on to add four further podiums to the Brands win en-route to the championship runner-up spot.

Those performances has earnt him a richly-deserved spot on the KX Akademy scheme for 2014, with their backing ensuring his second season in the series. While he has a new team, SV Racing, and the new Clio race car to get acquainted with, Morgan heads into the new season as the pre-season championship favourite and our number one driver to watch this year.
