Following on from Pirelli‘s announcement last week that the 2016 Australian Grand Prix will be using White-banded Medium, Yellow-banded Soft and the Red-banded Supersoft tyre compounds, the Italian tyre manufacturer has revealed the chosen compounds for the Bahrain and China race weekends.
The three compounds available for competitors over the two race weekends will be the same as Australia, with Pirelli stating that drivers must use at least one set of the Medium and Soft compounds during the race.
All drivers in the third phase of qualifying will run on the Red Supersoft tyres.
Each driver must save one set of the softest of the three nominated compounds for Q3. This set will be given back to Pirelli after Q3 for those who qualify in the top 10, but the remaining drivers will keep it for the race.
With the mandatory tyre selection announced, the teams are free to choose the remaining sets, making up a total of 13 sets for the weekend.
