Team HARD will expand to a three car line-up for the 2016 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship after acquiring a third TOCA BTCC License (TBL).
The team have already confirmed ex-MINI Challenge champion Chris Smiley and former BTCC points finisher Jake Hill for the campaign, with their third driver set to be announced on Wednesday.
Hill and the to-be-named driver will be running under the RCIB Insurance Racing banner, while Smiley will be competing under a new team name that will be announced soon.
The team are hard at work completing the build of the second and third Avensis’ and hope to have them running on track at the BTCC Media Day at Donington Park on 22 March.
It comes at the start of a busy season for the Kent-based outfit, who are also running a pair of Ginettas in British GT and multiple cars in the Volkswagen Racing Cup and VAG Trophy this year.
“With Jake Hill joining Chris Smiley, we already have one of the most exciting pairings of young talent in the series,” said Gilham.
“As soon as it became apparent that we were in a position to run a third car, then we decided to again look to young talent to fill the seat.
“I really couldn’t have asked for a better line-up and to be in a position to be able to support these young drivers in the BTCC thanks to our amazing sponsors is unbelievable.”
