The highly successful F1 Live London claimed three major awards at The Drum UK Event Awards 2017, including the “Sports Event of the Year”.

Alongside the honour, F1 Live was named the “Large Event of the Year” and also took first place in the “Grand Prix” category.

The accolades befitted the organisation and execution carried out last summer, as Formula 1 looked to get closer to its fans than ever before – an ambition that was achieved in front of a staggering 100,000 people just days before the British Grand Prix.

Live music from acts such as Little Mix, Bastille and the Kaiser Chiefs complimented live car demonstrations and driver interactions.

Furthermore, the event was praised for its efforts to excite the younger generation about the opportunities in Formula 1 through the ‘F1 in Schools’ STEM initiative – now in its eighteenth year.

Chairman of the judging panel, Damian Clarke explained why the event was a triumph.

“This award entry hit every aspects of the judges focus this year,” Clarke told Formula 1.com.

“Human centricity, diversity in a sometimes exclusive sport and excellent social mobility access all played a big part in this integrated piece of work.”

“Oh and the activation in central London was breath taking!”

It has since been revealed that more F1 Live events will be taking place across the globe in 2018.
