Even though Timo Scheider had put the new Audi A5 DTM on Pole Position for the very first time in 21 months, his weekend went awry from the moment racing got underway at Zandvoort for Round 7 of the 2012 season. Edoardo Mortara, however, picked up his second win of the year following his earlier victory at Spielburg, with fellow Audi drivers Mike Rockenfeller and Mattias Ekström ensuring a truly dominant weekend at the sandy Dutch venue, showing that Audi was back with a bang after the summer break.
Four British drivers went to X-Games 18 with hopes of taking the gold medal, but come Sunday, none could garner a podium finish. Liam Doran was the best placed one of the British contingent in fifth, while last minute stand-in David Higgins and front-row starter David Binks were both forced to retire.
Despite it being his first experience of rallycross and his first time competing in North America, there was no stopping Sebastien Loeb on the streets of LA as he dominated proceedings to win X-Games Gold.
