The 2017 IMSA Weathertech SportsCar season saw the end of the Daytona Prototypes but the emergence of the new DPi regulations led to the dominance of the Wayne Taylor Racing squad. As we said farewell to the PC class, Corvette and Scuderia Corsa retained their GT titles in the closely fraught classes.
The ESM Nissan DPi twins dominanted much of the 20th running of the Motul Petit Le Mans, but it was the #2 machine that took victory after team-mate Pipo Derani and the #5 Mustang Sampling Cadillac were delayed through penalties in the final hour. Wayne Taylor Racing clinch the championship but retire early in the race.
Helio Castroneves grabbed pole position for the Motul Petit Le Mans for Team Penske, despite the team only claiming they’re here for to experience the championship and wasn’t looking to dominant. Championship leading #10 Wayne Taylor Racing squad qualifies 7th.

The 20th Running of the Motul Petit Le Mans will not see any nail biting close title deciders but with the Petit Le Mans is now an iconic event and every driver and team desires their names on the trophy.
Despite disrupted race preparations due to Hurricane Irma, Renger van der Zande took only the second non-Cadillac victory of the season at the America’s Tire 250 at Laguna Seca. The Wayne Taylor Racing Team finished third and can clinch the overall Weathertech SportsCar Championship just by starting Petit Le Mans.
Pipo Derani took the first non-Cadillac victory of the 2017 Weathertech Sports Car Championship at Road America, thanks to a daring overtake around the outside of Jordan Taylor’s Cadillac.
Birthday boy Ricky Taylor planted the #10 Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac on pole by a second for the Continental Tire Road Race Showcase at Road America.

Porsche claimed victory in both GT catergories in the GT only IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship round at Lime Rock. Dirk Werner and Patrick Pilet took GTLM honours in a 1-2 for the marque while Jorg Bergmeister and Patrick Lindsey took GTD honours for Park Place Motorsport.
After a disappointing defence of their title so far this year, Dane Cameron and Whelen Engineering got their title defence back on track with victory at Mosport, helped by championship leader Jordan Taylor clashing with Tommy Milner’s GTLM Corvette.
After their worst result of the season at Watkins Glen, the Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac bounced back with Ricky Taylor grabbing pole for tomorrow’s race at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. In GTLM Dirk Werner secured Porsche’s first pole since 2016 Daytona 24 Hours and Sage Karam grabbed Lexus’s first Weathertech Pole.
